I’m not getting the EndNote toolbar in Word

Solution:

The toolbar in Word that provides the connection to EndNote is based on so-called macros that must be in place and enabled.

The procedure depends on the Word version you are using.

Automatic configuration procedure for Word on Windows:

• Quit both EndNote and Word
  
• Start Control Panel
  
• Select «Programs» / «Applications»
• Find your EndNote program, and select «Repair»
• Then the program will check all additions and extras and notify you of the progress
  
• Finally, click «Finish» and the procedure is complete

Fremgangsmåte for automatisk konfigurering for Word på Mac:

• Exit Word and other Office programs
• In the EndNote program, select Customizer from the EndNote 21 menu
• Make sure Cite While You Write is checked and click Next
• Enter your username and password for accessing the machine if you are asked for this
• Click the Done button to exit the wizard
• Restart Word to check that the EndNote 21 menu (or an earlier version) is in place and working as intended
