About the licenses

The University Library has signed a so-called site license on the use of the reference management program EndNote. In practice, this means that all UiB employees and students can use the program both in work / study context and for home use.
Note: When UiB’s working / study relationship ends, you must uninstall the program.

On campus

If you use a machine operated by the IT department, you can install / update using the «Software Center». Note that it may be useful to change the link to full text to make full use of available literature resources.

On private machine

Download the program

For use on machines that are not managed by UiB’s IT department, you can download the program from the web (https://tjinfo.uib.no/program). EndNote is available for both Mac and Windows.
If you are using Windows, choose to download the «Endnote_X9Win.zip» file.

Installation / upgrade

Older editions of EndNote should be removed before adding a new one. Then install the new version as described below.
Also, be sure to quit Word and other Microsoft Office programs before starting the installation.

Once you have downloaded the program to your own machine, this must be «unpacked». The easiest way to do this is to double-click the «Endnote_X9Win.zip» file and choose where to extract the files. Copy the «ENX9Inst.msi» and «License.dat» files to e.g. desktop. Then double-click on the «ENX9Inst.msi» file and follow the installation instructions.
